The Lake Erie Monarchs lost 4-1 to the Stark County Terriers in a GLL tournament elimination game, thus ending their season.
“The team played hard and aggressive, which is all you can
hope for,” said Monarchs head coach Copley Gerdes.
The Monarchs bats couldn't figure out Stark County starter Frank Turocy, who had faced the minimum 18 batters through six innings.
Monarchs starter Sean Hoffman (Eastern Michigan) allowed three runs in his first two innings, but then settled in nicely himself, allowing just two hits over his next four innings before finally allowing another run in the 7th.

The Monarchs were 0-4 vs. the Cincinnati Steam during the regular season, but for 7.2 innings on Tueday, it was Lake Erie that played as the better team.
The Monarchs fell behind 4-0 in the 2nd inning, but scored twice in both the 3rd and 7th and one in the 8th to take a 5-4 lead.
With two outs in the 8th and a lone runner on base, Kevin Leady (Bowling Green) induced a pop up which should have ended the inning. The ball was lost in the sun, however, fell in amongst the infield, and Cincinnati went on to get three runs in the inning.

Second baseman Aaron Crooks (Eastern Michigan), outfielder Pedro Dager (Western Michigan) and third baseman Derek Spencer (Bowling Green) were all named to the first team All-GLSCL team, chosen
by the league coaches and announced Tuesday.
In all, four Monarchs picked up postseason honors.
Pitcher Nick Montgomery (Ranger JC) was named to the league's second team.
